INDUSTRY NEWS : Office-supply businesses combine. Lyng's Office Supply Center, 150 Factory St., has merged with W.B. Mason, a regional office-supply business. Lyng's, a 61-year-old business, tried to find a way to get through the tough economic climate, said Frank A. Empsall III. "A lot of things have transpired in the last year," he said. "For a small business, it seems like you have to grow or you'll be out of business at some point." Chris Giannetti, regional manger for W.B. Mason, said the company emphasizes keeping the local presence while adding marketing power and broader product offerings. W.B. Mason stores also carry HON furniture and coffee for the single-cup Keurig coffeemakers. W.B. Mason also has printing and promotional products as well as break-room and janitorial supplies.
